Frequently Asked Questions

What is Baby and Child Dedication?
Baby and child dedication is the act of parents committing to raise their child by modeling Godly lives. It is an act of worship, thanksgiving, dependence, trust, and commitment.

We recognize that salvation only comes to a child through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is not passed on to a child through dedication.

Is dedication the same as infant baptism or christening?
Child dedication is different from infant baptism or christening. While these rites are significant for a variety of faiths, it is the practice of Faith Community to dedicate children.

We believe that young children are heaven-bound before they are old enough to enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We also believe the Bible teaches that baptism should take place after a person has made a personal choice to follow Jesus.
Are there any requirements for child dedication?
We ask only that you be regular attendees with a desire to raise/bring your child up in Godly, Christ centered home.
1-2 weeks before your dedication event, you will attend an orientation. At this meeting, you will receive all the details you need to ensure the celebration day runs smoothly for you and your family—well, as smoothly as it can be when there are kids involved!
When & Where is Baby & Child Dedication?
Child dedications will be scheduled periodically throughout the year. You must register for upcoming dedications. Prior to the dedication service, you will be required to attend a parent orientation to help you prepare.
I am a single parent. May I still dedicate my child?
Who should we invite to the Dedication Service?
Child dedication is a special and significant step in your lives and in your faith, so be sure to invite your family and friends. There is no limit to the number of guests you may invite!
Being a new Christian, I am a little nervous about all of this.
If you are a new Christian, we are excited to be a part of this important step in your new walk with Jesus. Our intent is to come alongside you and your family, and commit to support you in your journey of faith and parenthood.
Our next dedication event will take place on July 23, 2017. Registration is closed.
